Paste a picture, drop one onto this card, or choose a file. Up to 8 per card.
Each one lays out the parts, starter cards with prompts and storylines. Pick one to start a new table.
This replaces the cards in the book that is open now. To keep them, start a new book first under Books on the go.
Paste notes, or pick files from other writing apps. New cards go at the end of the table. For notes, the first line becomes the card title.
Short answers to the things people ask most. Tap a topic to open it.
The sample book on the table shows how everything works. Try moving a few cards, then tap Clear table when you're ready for your own story.
Tap + New card for each scene. Give it a title and a line or two, the way you would on a paper card. You can write the whole scene later.
Not sure how to lay out your book? Open File > Templates and pick a starting layout.
Double-tap a card (double-click on a computer) to open it. The short description goes on the card face. The full scene goes in the big box underneath.
Each card keeps its number wherever you move it. To change the number, tap it at the top left of the open card.
Use Previous and Next to read the book scene by scene. Delete card asks you to confirm.
Drag a card to a new spot and the rest slide out of the way. On a phone or iPad, press and hold for a moment, then drag.
Add act puts a break on the table. Drag the break to where the act starts. The menu beside it changes acts to parts, chapters, episodes or your own word.
To clip cards into a pile, open a card and tap Stack on the card before.
Yellow cards show where the big turning points usually land, such as the inciting incident or the midpoint. They move on their own as your book grows. Turn them off in Look.
Plot lines shows each storyline as a row, left to right in story order. Drag a card up or down to change its storyline, or sideways to move it in the story. Tap a storyline's name to rename it.
Use the − and + buttons, or pinch on a trackpad, to zoom. Fit to screen shows as much of the book as it can.
Keep your characters, places and notes in Story bible. Each entry can have a picture, tags and your own fields, and it lists every scene it appears in.
Open a card and paste a picture, drop one onto it, or tap + Add picture. A card holds up to 8. The first one shows on the card face. Tap a picture to see it full size or remove it.
Type a name, place or any word in the Find box, or tap a character's name below it. Cards that match stay bright and the rest fade. Tap Show all cards to bring them all back.
Tap Books on the go to see all your books. Tap one to open it, or start a new one. Each book keeps its own cards, acts, story bible and pictures.
Writing more than one book with the same people and places? Open a book, tap Books on the go, then Put this book in a series. Name the series and tap Add to series. Then open your next book and add it to the same series.
Every book in a series shares one story bible. Add or change a character in one book and the others see it too. If two books both had the same character, iScenes keeps one and fills in anything that was missing. Cards stay with their own book.
To stop sharing, open the book and tap Take this book out of the series. It keeps its own copy of the story bible. The sample book can't join a series.
Open File > Import. Paste notes from your phone or computer, or choose files: Word, RTF, plain text, Final Draft, Fountain, outlines from Scrivener (OPML), spreadsheets (CSV) or an iScenes backup. Each note becomes a card. The first line becomes its title.
You can also copy text straight from Word and paste it into any card.
Open File > Export. Choose the outline or the full draft, then pick a format: PDF, Word, Final Draft, Fountain, a Scrivener outline, a spreadsheet or Markdown. Everything comes out in the order your cards sit on the table. On the free plan you can save an iScenes backup, and the other formats come with a paid plan.
iScenes saves as you go. The word Saved under the book title tells you it's done.
Every so often, save a copy you can hold onto: File > Export > iScenes backup. To bring it back, use File > Import and choose the backup file.
Open File, then Tell us what you think. Send an idea, a problem or something you like. It comes straight to us, and we read every note.
Cards look faded. A search is on. Tap Show all cards or clear the Find box.
My cards are gone. You may be in a different book. Tap Books on the go and pick the right one. Also check that a search isn't hiding them.
A button does nothing. Refresh the page. Your cards are saved, so nothing is lost.
It says "Saved on this device". Your cards are kept in this browser only. Save a backup now and then so you have a copy.
Cards are too big or too small. Change Card size in Look.
Nothing matches that. Try another word.
Cards export in the order they sit on the table, with your act breaks.
On the free plan you can save an iScenes backup of your work. PDF, Word and the other formats come with a paid plan.

iScenes is new, and your notes shape what we build next. What's working, what's confusing, what's missing? A line or two is plenty.
